Idaho Power’s Skills Training Center Tour
Ten years ago, Idaho Power faced a challenge common among American utilities: a looming shortage of field workers. Many of the company’s long-term employees were approaching retirement. Finding replacements wasn’t as easy as it used to be. So, the company developed plans for a new, all-in-one training facility to attract, train and retain the new recruits needed to replace those retiring field workers. The 14,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art Skills Training Center, situated on an 11-acre complex in west Boise, opened in early 2021. It’s been receiving rave reviews ever since.
Join City Club of Boise members for a guided tour of the Skills Training Center, where the trainers will take you through the indoor facility as well as the “simulated” substation outside.
