Tour: U of I Center for Ecohydraulics Research

City Club members & guests are invited to this tour of the indoor StreamLab and Aquatic Imaging Flume (a.k.a. the flume and the mini-flume) at 10:30 a.m. on November 18, 2022.

These labs, part of the University of Idaho’s Center for Ecohydraulics Research (CER) are located in the Idaho Water Center in downtown Boise, Idaho. The CER is a graduate education and research program dedicated to studying links between physical processes and aquatic ecosystems. There are only a handful of labs like these in the entire U.S.

The StreamLab features a large-scale sediment flume to allow fundamental and applied research of processes in headwater streams and mountain rivers with a unique combination of scale, instrumentation, and computer-control. The Aquatic Imaging Flume features large tempered glass side windows and floor for optical access to conduct Particle Imaging Velocimetry (PIV) and other optical measurement techniques.

Location: University of Idaho Boise, 322 E Front Street, Boise, ID 83702. We will meet in the ground floor lobby.

Event Cost: $15 City Club members // $20 non-members

Limited to 20 attendees.
